Biography
This is a bit of
stuff
about me and my journey through life.
I was born in Preston at Sharoe Green Hospital in November 1954. My father was a
maintenance engineer and fitter having served in the Middle East during the war.
My mother was a mill worker in the then thriving Lancashire cotton spinning industry.
However in those days, mums stopped work when they had children so my dad became
the bread winner. My first home was a standard two up two down terraced house with
'outside facilities' in Bamber Bridge which I shared with my brother. I guess we
were considered quite 'well off' as we had a black and white television and a car - no idea
what sort. We also got a family holiday every year, a week in North Wales usually
at Winkups Caravan Camp which is still there ! My father's family lived quite close
and summers were spent at 'grandads', helping him to grow tomatoes and going on
trips to Blackpool, Fleetwood and Morecambe on the train.
